Please be aware of the upcoming advancement changes noted in a previous announcement and also found here: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/AdvancementandAwards/2010R....

It is important, however, to know the changes in the Centennial Edition of the Handbook.

NEW BSA Advancement Requirements (as of January 1, 2010)

Posted on Jun 16 2009 - 12:00pm
JUST ANNOUNCED!

New requirements have been added to the new Boy Scout Handbook effective January 1, 2010. These new requirements stress the EDGE (skill teaching) model, Leave No Trace, living the Scout Oath and Law, and the invaluable skill of saving money.... All are great improvements to the BSA advancement program!! What is really great about these changes is that it will force the older, Life Scouts to teach skills to younger Scouts (which is a requirement to advance in Venturing). And, younger Scouts will learn at an early age how to teach skills to others.

The BSA has also added 2 official positions – Troop webmaster and Leave No Trace Trainer....

A Preview of Advancement Changes

Lists of Cardinal District Merit Badge Counselors Added!

Posted on Mar 30 2009 - 5:50pm
Lists of Cardinal District Merit Badge Counselors have been added to the "Files" tab on the left Menu. The lists are by (a) Counselor Name and (b) Merit Badge.

One of the eight (8) Methosd of Boy Scouting is "Adult Association". It is important for every Scout, when looking to earn a merit badge, to seek out merit badge counselors themselves, rather than waiting until an opportunity comes to take the merit badge. Scouts are encouraged to plan the merit badge class with the counselor with 1 or more boys, thus earning the merit badge together, practicing the buddy system and respecting the merit badge counselor's time.
